Sujet : B'autha d'ninvaye – Translation and Textual Analysis.
Abstract : There is no religion in the world without fasts and penitential acts. Churches of Syriac tradition are not exception to this. Khudhra , the book of proper anthems and other variable parts of the service for the festivals of the year in the East Syrian Church is a rich source of traditional formulations in connection with various fasts.
B'autha d'ninvaye is a liturgical text taken from the famous East Syrian liturgical collection called Khudhra . Fast of the Ninevites is the liturgical setting of this fast. Ephrem's and Narsai's memrae on Jona's preaching in Nineveh and the penitential response and consequent conversion of Ninevites are the basis of the East Syrian liturgical tradition behind this fast.
This research aims at exploring the origin and development of B'autha d'ninvaye. A textual, theological and liturgical analysis of the East Syrian and the underlying patristic sources of B'autha d'ninvaye are aimed at.

Sujet : thakso d' denho in West Syrian Tradition.
Abstract : Denho (Epiphany) is the feast of Manifestation of Christ, specially related to the theme of His nativity and Baptism.
Very little is known about the origin of this feast even though it is common to Antiochean and Byzantine Churches. According to Bainton, the feast of the Epiphany in the East is earlier than the council of Nicea in A.D. 325 and the Orthodox Christians as well as Basilidians, Montanists and Marcionists held January 6 as the birthday of Christ even in the acute Christological controversies. The most ancient allusion to the assignment of the Nativity of Christ to January 6 is found in Clement of Alexandria, ‘Stromata 1,21, 145'.

Sujet : Symbols and Imageries of Death in the Liturgical Literature of the West Syriac Tradition.
Abstract : Death is an inevitable fact of life. Every living creature has to face this great fact and man shudders at the thought of death. But what is its meaning and purpose? This is a question man asks himself and tries to find an answer.
Every language and culture of man has been influenced by man's anxiety towards death and his answers to solve the problem of death. The Syriac Literature, especially the liturgical literature, has a lot to speak about death. Death is very often personified and made to speak for itself. Many imageries and symbols are used to bring out the meaning and purpose of death as well as the misery that death brings about to the living and the dead themselves.
The idea of death is not the same in all authors or texts. Sometimes death is a cruel enemy, some other times it is a liberator from the sorrowful life on earth. As thought move from one and to the other, different symbols are used to impress the readers and audience.
This treasure in Syriac literature is the common heritage of human society. It should be made available to people of all cultural and linguistic backgrounds. This study is a humble attempt at it.

Sujet : Taksà d'al razà q'adishà d- zuwagà : A textual and theological analysis of the order of marriage in the East Syrian Tradition.
Abstract : The objective of this study is to make a scientific and comprehensive study on the East Syriac marriage rite bringing out the linguistic specialties and rich theological insights.
In the East Syrian liturgical family, the Chaldean Catholics and Assyrian Church of the East follow the same text, whereas Syro Malabar Church used the same text up to the Diamper Synod with slight Indian adaptations like the use of Thali and Vilaku Thodeel (touching in veneration the lamp representing Jesus, the light of the world).
So the restoration of the original text helps the Church to enrich its theology. Furthermore, the symbolism and mysticism of marriage were always a fascinating theme for all the Syriac fathers. Of the various Oriental Rites, that of the East Syrian rite is especially rich in its imagery and symbolism. An investigation into this area will bring forth the richness of East Syriac literature.

Sujet : Qulase d'Marth Maryam
Abstract : The research aims at exploring the origin and development of the Feast of Marth Maryam. A textual, theological and liturgical analysis of the commemoration of St. Mary based on manuscript dated 1598 (Tcr. 27) compared with the printed Hudra texts (Darmo Vol. 1 and Bedjan Vol. 1) is proposed.
Veneration of St. Mary is an important aspect in the Apostolic Churches. We can turn to Mary as a role model in faith, submission to God's will and devotion to Christ. We can turn to her for intercession on our behalf. There is no direct translation for the commemoration of Blessed Marth Maryam from Syriac into English or any other language. We have one book in English, Mary Matha but it is translated from Malayalam and not directly from Syriac text.
Hence the researcher is making an attempt to study this particular topic. Here the researcher proposes to take the Syriac text from the manuscript Trichur 27 (dated 1598) and compare it with the printed texts that were edited by Bedjan (Leipzig, 1886) and Mar Thoma Darmo, Metropolitan of Trichur (1960).

Sujet : The Revelation of Paul the Apostle: Edition, Translation and Critical Analysis
Abstract : There are collections of Apocrypha together with the classical Bible. These two contain interesting informations regarding early Christianity and with this purpose, scholars in France have published a series called Apocrypha in which they have already published several books.
In this study, it is proposed to describe at first the only available Syriac manuscript of the Trichur collection (Tcr. 83) according to the norms and criteria that are found in the modern science of manuscripts' descriptions – Codicology.
Then the work will be edited following the norms of classical collections like CSCO, Patrologia Syriaca, etc. It will be accompanied by translation and footnotes. A systematic analysis of the work will be done exploring the main teaching of this work and comparing it with other works (earlier, contemporary and posterior). Finally, the importance and relevance of this work for today will be highlighted.

Sujet : Martyrological Literature in Syriac: Based on Select Persian Martyrs from the early 5 th Century.
Abstract : The Syriac Martyrology is one of the major branches of Syriac literature. The period IVth to VIIth century is considered as the classical period of Syriac Martyrology. Existence of innumerable number of manuscripts containing acts of the martyrs is a proof. But no systematic and comprehensive studies have been done so far in this field and many of the texts remaining to be translated.
Considering its historical, sociological, linguistic, cultural and religious relevance it is an urgent necessity to make a systematic study on this topic. From the personal accounts of the martyrs we can surely have the always-precious glimpse of individual lives of the persons, habits and contours of life in late antiquity.
The martyrology gives us not only a view of events that happened but also reactions and reflections of those who lived and wrote with the memory of those events. The acts of the martyrs reveal to us not the individual of their day but rather something of the world in which they lived and moved. From this view these narrations offer us a rich harvest of historical depth.
